When I was in high school, I used to map out my life. I had a little list of what I believed to be the perfect pattern for my life.
Because you can’t put an age limit on your life.
The fact of the matter is that things don’t always go exactly as we plan. And, a lot of the time we don’t really know what we need to shape us, and grow us. I have found that most of the time, God changes my plans into something I wasn’t ever expecting. Yet, as I head down the life he designed for me, I find myself chasing dreams I never even realized I had, surrounded in blessings that I honestly don’t deserve.
So what I got married at 19 instead of 23?
So what I had a baby before I finished college?
My dreams are not over because I didn’t reach them by a predetermined age. That’s the beauty of life, there is not only one route to happiness, or one shot at getting it right. There is something beautiful about the fact that the picture I mentally paint of my life can be revised and changed into something much more glorious and divine than I could ever envision on my own. My dreams are not erased, they’ve just been revised, swapped, changed and edited.
My life isn’t over.
It’s just began.
I am 21 years old, nearing my second year of marriage, with a six month old baby.
I have no bachelors,
I have no masters,
I have no doctorate.
I’ve accomplished so much, yet I still have so many things I want to do.
And that’s just awesome, because I am not finished.
Not yet.

This is just what I needed to hear. I'm doing a degree BA which I never planned for myself- God did, I'm single and I've never had a boyfriend, thats okay. People ask me all the time ironically the opposite of you, "how come you've never had a boyfriend?". I really loved what you said about there not being one shot to get it right and one route to happiness. God is teaching me this at the moment. I just found your blog and I love it! Keep the posts coming, I follow you now on blogger π

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I truly believe that there is no one right way of doing things. Even though me and you are experiencing some things in a different order in our lives, I believe that we will look back on our lives down the road and know the order was perfect for us! Thanks for loving my blog and letting me know! I hope to keep writing posts you enjoy!

Natasha, can we just be best friends???
I love how my little life is turning out so far. My plan was to marry shortly after highschool and get married right off, but that didn't happen. Marriage came about a year after I was "planning" for it to, though I was still only nineteen, so it's not like I was much older than I had wanted to be. Then we were "supposed" to have a baby right away. Now we're fifteen months into our life together, with two miscarriages behind us. It's not at all what I had written out, but even with the pain of losing our babies, neither of have regrets. God's plan is always better anyway!

Of course! I love making new friends! π
Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. I am really sorry to hear about the loss of your babies. I cannot imagine how hard that would be, but it sounds like you have an amazing perspective and it inspires me! I agree, God knows us best!

So happy to have found your blog! My husband and I got married and moved to New York City at nineteen! It's always encouraging to find others whom share the same story. I certainly never thought I would be married, let alone married so young, but God has a plan for our lives – and it's usually much different than the plan we have for ourselves!

Thanks for sharing your story with me!! I love hearing of other people who have been in similar situations with me, there are a lot more 19 year old brides than I imagined! You are right, God's plan is always pretty different, but… I've found its always much better! I'm glad that he's in charge. He knows what he's doing π

I just stumbled across your blog and have enjoyed the few posts I've read. I, too, was a teen wife (and mother), married at 17. Next week we will celebrate our 19th anniversary! We have five children, and a grandbaby on the way – life has had its ups and downs, but we have been so happy and blessed. I don't have many regrets either, even though my life didn't turn out exactly as I planned. Just wanted to tell you to keep moving forward and be sure to keep God at the head of your marriage. God bless!

Congrats on 19 years!! And congrats on the beautiful family you've created! I can't wait to hit 19 years and be able to look at all my wonderful children… maybe even a grandchild! And see all I've accomplished as you are able to do. Life is so wonderful, even when it is different than we planned. Thanks for reading my blog and commenting! π
